It’s June, which means Pride is officially upon us. When it comes to celebrating love, inclusion and diversity, there are a few destinations that stand out. So for all would-be Pride travelers, Airbnb has compiled a list of the best places to celebrate.
“Airbnb is excited to reveal the world’s top destinations for an unforgettable Pride this year,” the company shared in a statement. “In order to achieve an overview of the best pride destinations in 2018 it was vital to have the right amalgamation of factors relating to the popularity and openness for LGBT travelers.”
Starting from a list of the 100 cities with the highest Pride attendance, Airbnb’s study ranked international destinations based on marriage rights, Pride celebrations, Tinder dating, travel, and nightlife.
When it came to naming the best Pride celebration, that honor went to São Paulo, Brazil, where about 3 million visitors attended Pride in 2017. For travel, Airbnb found London stood out for year-over-year growth in guest arrivals for Pride, as well as having some of the highest number of LGBTQ Experiences and Guidebook tips for LGBTQ travelers. (And London also ranked highest for dating, based on Tinder data.)
Overall, the destination with the full package, according to Airbnb, is New York City. “The city that sparked the gay Pride movement following the Stonewall riots will welcome over 27,000 guests on Airbnb during Pride Week,” Airbnb noted.
Of course, these aren’t the only places people can travel to for a good time at Pride.
“Guests will also be able to celebrate Pride with more Airbnb Experiences around the world, like Dressing up in Drag in Mexico City, and an Untold Story in Dublin, among others,” Airbnb explained. Check out their top 20 destinations for Pride festivals around the world below.
