Southwest is considered a low-cost carrier, but you won’t run into extra fees for things like baggage. Southwest allows up to two checked bags for free, as well as one carry-on and one personal item.
If you’ve never flown with Southwest, take note: Southwest is an open-seating airline. Instead of pre-assigned seating, passengers will receive a boarding number. Once on board the aircraft, passengers can choose any available seat. To increase your chances of getting a good seat, passengers can purchase upgraded boarding.
